Prayer against strongman

A strongman in spiritual terms refers to a powerful demonic spirit that exerts control over a person, family, or territory, often by establishing spiritual strongholds. The term is derived from Matthew 12:29, where Jesus speaks of binding the strongman to plunder his goods, symbolizing spiritual warfare against the enemy. Here's a detailed explanation and structured prayer for dealing with strongholds caused by a strongman:

Understanding the Strongman

1. Who is the Strongman?

  A. A ruling spirit that operates behind oppression, generational curses, addiction, sickness, fear, or spiritual bondage.

B. It often works with other spirits to establish a foothold in a person’s life or a region.

A lot of people today are under serious demonic manipulation due to the evil activities of a strongman going on in their lives, and if God doesn't intervene for these people's deliverance they will surely be killed in captivity.

2. How Does It Gain Access?

A. Through sin (unforgiveness, pride, occult practices).

B. Generational curses or ancestral agreements.

C. Ignorance of God’s Word and spiritual authority.

3. Biblical Foundation for Deliverance

A. Matthew 12:29

B. Ephesians 6:12

C. Luke 10:19

Steps to Pray Effectively Against the Strongman

1. Repentance and Confession

A. Begin by confessing and repenting of all known sins.

B. Ask God to reveal any hidden sins or generational issues.

2. Renunciation

A. Renounce any agreements, covenants, or ties (intentional or unintentional) with the enemy.

3. Binding the Strongman

A. Take authority in the name of Jesus to bind the strongman and his influence.

4. Breaking Strongholds

A. Speak scripture and truth over your life to destroy lies and strongholds.

5. Release and Restoration

A. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with His power, love, and peace to maintain freedom.

 Prayer

1. Repentance and Cleansing

Heavenly Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, humbling myself in repentance. I confess all my sins, both known and unknown, and ask for Your forgiveness. Cleanse me by the blood of Jesus and make me whole. Reveal any hidden areas of sin or iniquity in my life, and give me the grace to turn away from them completely.

2. Renunciation

In the name of Jesus, I renounce every covenant, agreement, or tie made with the enemy through sin, ignorance, or generational iniquities. I break every curse and nullify every legal right the enemy has claimed over my life, my family, or my circumstances.

3. Binding the Strongman

Lord Jesus, You have given me authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). In Your mighty name, I bind the strongman operating in my life or family. I declare that every chain of oppression, fear, sickness, poverty, or addiction is broken. The power of the strongman is rendered powerless under the blood of Jesus.

4. Breaking Strongholds

I declare that every stronghold in my mind, emotions, or spirit is demolished in the name of Jesus. I take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Every lie of the enemy is replaced with the truth of God’s Word.

5. Restoration and Filling

Holy Spirit, I invite You to fill every area of my life with Your presence. Restore what has been stolen and heal every wound. Cover me with Your peace, protect me with Your power, and guide me in righteousness. I declare that I am free, redeemed, and victorious through Jesus Christ.

6. Thanksgiving and Declaration

Father, I thank You for the victory that is mine in Jesus Christ. I declare that the strongman is bound, and his works are destroyed. Your Word says, “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed” (John 8:36), and I stand firm in this freedom. All glory and honor belong to You.

In Jesus' mighty name, I pray,

Amen.
