It's completely natural to feel worried, even when you trust in God. Trusting doesn’t mean the absence of worry; it’s about learning to surrender those worries to Him. Faith often coexists with human emotions like fear and doubt, but the key is to keep turning back to God for peace and reassurance.
Consider reflecting on verses like Philippians 4:6-7. So, instead of worrying is better to:
1. Deepen Your Prayer Life
There is a saying that "One should pray until something happens " which means that no matter how tough or challenging it is, one should continuously pray till it changes for good.
Prayer should be an honest conversation with God because it is a moment of Sharing your worries and fears openly with Him, and Pouring your heart out as if you are speaking to a close friend. Also, write down your prayers and concerns, then revisit them later to see how God has worked in your life. Pray specifically about the situations that worry you, asking for peace and wisdom.
2. Meditate on Scripture
One thing many people don't know is that the word of God is the best therapy to heal all life troubles because it one way or the other has the solution to whatever a person is going through. For example in:
○ The Bible knows that a time will come when a person will be worried about how to survive the struggle of tomorrow, and the Word in Matthew 6:34 refers to that not to worry but to let tomorrow worry for itself.
○ The Word of God knows beforehand that fear will come because of what a person will go through in life, and leave a word of encouragement in Isaiah 41:10
○ The Word of God also knows that no matter how much a person worries it won't solve the problem, but the Bible in Psalm 55:22 made it known that God is ever willing to carry those burdens because He cares.
Spend time daily reading, memorizing, or meditating on verses that remind you of God’s sovereignty and love.
3. Practice Gratitude
Instead of worrying while not use that time to be thankful to God for His faithfulness. Thank Him for the ones He has done and the ones He is yet to do.
4. Surround Yourself with Support
○ Fellowship: Share your struggles with trusted friends, family, or a church group who can encourage and pray for you.
○ Teaching Resources: Listen to sermons or read books on faith and trust.
5. Take Action While Trusting
Faith doesn’t mean passivity. Take small, intentional steps in areas where you feel anxious:
○ For financial worries, create a budget while trusting God to provide.
○ For health concerns, seek medical advice while praying for healing and peace.
7. Reflect on Past Faithfulness
Look back on how God has provided or carried you through tough times before. Journaling these moments builds confidence in His care for the future.
8. Practice Quiet Reflection
○ Spend time in silence, focusing on God’s presence.
○ Use breathing techniques alongside simple prayers like, “Lord, I trust You” to calm your spirit.
