What does the Bible say about playing with sin?

Immediately, man ate from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil; he became exposed to sin. It was a fruit to man when he saw it and ate from it, but in his body, it was a virus that was to fight against good by exposing the kind of knowledge unknown to him. Not that God did not tell him about the consequences of eating from the tree, but he was caught by the web of his ambitious desire to play with sin knowing fully well the implications, and his act of disobedience to God's instructions rendered him incapacitated over sin and satan. Genesis 2:15-17;3

Have you wondered why many Christians sin knowing fully well the disastrous end of sinners? Those kinds of Christians will say that God is merciful and just to forgive them whenever they sin against Him, which makes them comfortably and repeatedly continue sinning against God. Also, they do say that grace covers a multitude of sins which is another means to continue sinning and let Grace do her work, while the team of weaker vessels hold on to that too to sin against God. Thus, sin is sin no matter how anyone wants to justify its actions, and the penalty for sin is death. Roman 6:23

Note: It is the best of the best decisions to accept Jesus into your life as your Lord and personal savior, and it is also of great condemnation to know the truth of the gospel of Christ Jesus and still choose to walk by the leading of the flesh.

You might not know the gravity of that particular sin you are swimming on until the day of your reckoning. A day, you can not escape paying the price of death for the sins you committed because the wages of sin is death. So, playing with sin is playing with death because sin does not appear to be death until it has completely laid hold of it captive.

Samson paid with his life for playing with sin. God made him a deliverer to his people from the hands of the Philistines, but sin made him lose focus and even his sight; then, led to his untimely death. Judges 16   In the case of Samson, I learned that sin:

1. It makes a Christian open to destruction:

Sin is a hedge breaker that, no matter how little a sin is, can break a person's walls of protection and make the person open for any demonic attack. Ecclesiastes 10:8b

There is a hedge of protection for anyone under the coverage of God, and the only force that can break such a hedge is sin. Samson had that hedge of protection around him that no matter the strategy the Philistines used to get him to his knees they could not succeed, and until they used Delilah to break his hedge of protection because what he thought to be love led to his destruction. Judges 16:4-5

Also, there is no other way Satan can break Samson’s hedge of protection, if not through Delilah, because he found Samson in a state of defilement. That applies to any unguided Christian with that small, strong soft spot in his heart to welcome a particular sinful desire not knowing he is opening up himself for his doom. Satan does not take chances whenever he sees a small opening of sin in the life of a Christian, and if he succeeds in coming in through the opening he will cause unrepairable damage to the life of that Christian.

Oh, have you forgotten what the Bible says in Matthew 5:28-29? That is why we must be very careful in others not to fall into any kind of Satan's trap against us from doing or fulfilling the will of God for ourselves.

2. A Christian secret becomes no longer a secret when open to sin

  God has secrets and most of His secrets he reveals to Christians, and if there is anything that makes a child of God so special and great from anyone else it is because that child of God had a revelation from God that made him different from others. Psalms 25:14;

I heard a testimony of a sister who God taught how to cook moi-moi and instructed her not to make the recipe known to anyone because, through moi-moi, He would make her rich and announce her to the world. When God started making a name for Himself through moi-moi, she employed workers, distributed moi-moi to many organizations, and occasionally traveled outside the country to cook moi-moi, but that secret recipe remains a secret.

Note: If God reveals your destiny to you and instructs you to keep it a secret, and you maintain His instructions without sinning against Him, rest assured that nothing can stop you from exploring.

Satan does not need to struggle to get access to a person's life and destiny. All he needs to do is introduce sin by using the person’s weak point, and once the person accepts he enters through the opening of sin to know and take full control of the hidden treasures of God in the person. That is why the power of sin can make someone sell himself to his enemy without knowing, as Samson did in Judges 16:16. Because immediately sin had its way into Samson’s heart, he became so open to the extent that he revealed the secret of his strength to his enemies.

It is obvious that there are people gifted by God with the kind of grace upon Samson, but they failed by revealing God's divine mandate to His enemies at the lap of this Endtime Delilah.

3. Sin shaves off a Christian's glory and afflicts him with death:

Judges 16:19

In case you do not, sin does romance because it romanced Samson into a deep sleep that he did not even know when his glory was shaved off. For you to know that he did know that he had lost his glory in verse 20

A vibrant Christian brother who I know to be a soldier of Christ is mad today because his own Delilah romanced and shaved off his glory. Also, the reason why you might not hear that brother or sister's voice again roaring for God is because they have been shaved off of God's glory upon their lives the very moment they had intimacy with sin.

To you reading this now,  there is an opportunity to rethink before committing or continuing in that sin because it is easy to sin, and it seems sweet when sinning, but the end is disastrous. Do not allow sin or anyone to entice you into sin because the outcome is death. Proverbs 1:10

Yes, you are covered with flesh and can not possibly stop yourself from fulfilling your sinful desires because you are not yet dead to sin(Galatians 2:20). That moment, you denounced sin to live all for Christ, got washed in His blood, and forgiven all your sins. Christ gave you the power to live above sin in John 1:12. You denounced sin because you accepted His finished work on the cross, and the day you choose to return to your sin is the day you choose death over life because there is no longer a sacrifice that can cover up for your sins. Hebrews 10:26; Galatians 5:1

So, as a Christian and you are playing with sin, I will want you to also know that you are playing with death.

  1. We should be careful not to play with sin because as easy it may seem, it can cause huge crisis in the life of a Christian. Let's be warned and focus on the main goal, Jesus 🙏🙏
