Your responsibility as a parent

A child is a blessing from God to the parents(psalm 127:3). A blessing worth more than earthy treasures, that the child’s birth and growth should be guided against all odds so the blessing would not turn into a curse.
Good parenting is not only providing all the basic needs of a child because being a parent requires a lot of sacrifices to raise a godly child in our perverted world. So, it takes a disciplined parent to raise a disciplined child.
That is why the Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 to “train up” and most parents are lacking in the area of training their children. Good training given to a child at its early stage is meant to keep such child on track throughout the days of its life, because what a child could not learn or be brought up with at its early age, do you think the child will learn when he grows older?
“Leave him alone, he is still a child when he grows up he will learn”. Some parents are fond of saying that when their child does something wrong and needs to be corrected immediately, not knowing they are indirectly spoiling the child. Correcting a child does not mean you do not love or care about the child’s well-being, rather you are saving the child from destruction.
Most of the time, a child is not trained because the child learns the wayward lifestyle from the parents. Parents are their children’s first role models and that is why parents must be mindful of the kind of life they live because they have a kid that looks up to them.
It is so shameful that a mother and daughter fight over a man. What about a teenager who was comfortably smoking and when she was confronted to know why she chose such kind of life at a young age, she said she learned from her father whenever she saw him smoking. So, my question is, what kind of role models are these parents to their kids?  And what about you my dear reader, what kind of a role model are you to your kids?
What led to Samson’s death was his disobedience to his parents(Judges 14:3), but Samson should not be blamed for all of it because assuming he was not over-pampered he would have heeded his parent's advice.
There is what we call medicine after death. Do not wait till the child is older before you can train him/her to be responsible, start now before it becomes too late.
